Musoorie -

Musoorie - A dream in mountains

To travel is to rediscover yourself.  Amidst the catapults of work pressure and family life, travelling and  discovering the beauties and joy that nature provides is utmost blissful. The random roads leading to unknown destinations, unknown faces speaking of their tryst with life, the paddy fields and the shady trees embracing you even though you are a stranger to them, my friend, that is what travel provides.

We as Indians, are utterly blessed to have many scenic and mind soothing locations spread across all over India . But we remain adherent to our chaos life and miss the wonderful opportunities to explore them and make our life more beautiful. From the Paradise on earth i.e Kashmir to the ever calling Kanya Kumari, there are thousands of places waiting to be explored, to be lived in, to be had memories with. As such, I on a similar expedition to find calmness for my hippie soul wandered and reached MUSOORIE !!!!!

INTRODUCTION

Musoorie is a small hill station in the Dehradun District of the northern state of Uttarakhand. It lies in the beautiful Garhwal Himalayan foothills and the because of the beauty it lies in it is also rightly called as "Queen of the Hills ". Well, this post is not meant to be like wikipedia page on musoorie, so for more details regarding geography, history of the place you know where to look for !!!!

THE JOURNEY

Now coming back to my trip of the queen herself. I took a bus from Saharanpur to Dehradun ( as I was staying in Saharanpur) and reached Dehradun by 8 am as my motive was to spend the full day in Musoorie and return back to Saharnpur by evening.  As musoorie was only 40 kms from dehradun, I decided that Uttarakhand Transport Bus will be apt , but to my horror the buses were all jam packed to the doors, all because it was the peak tourist season. Anyhow I managed to get space to keep myself in one piece inside the bus. Around  travelling for 10 kms , the hills start and your eyes gets its first treat .

Well, this was the moment when my heart said," Dude, you are in the right place !".

And then began the series of topsy turvy and curvy roads, which added with the immensely adorable driving skills of the bus driver, made your heart ounce with fear alongwith a sense of adventure.

This was clicked from the moving bus. A part of the curvy road can be seen in the pic.
But its not that the journey was all roses and chocolate. Our bus broke down three time during the climb, and thus one extra hour of travel was added to the time. But still, the waiting time also turns to be pleasant when you are amidst such a scenery. And thus, with all the ups and down of the journey, finally we reached Musoorie.

THE DESTINATION

The first thing that we did in Musoorie (apart from nature's call and clicking a selfie) was to munch on to Chole Kulcha, a very famous snack in this part of the country. Though it was a bit overpriced, but then again what can be expected from a tourist place, isnt it?  Then started the tour of Musoorie. A quick travel advice- Musoorie is best explored on foot, or a cycle. Dont take taxis or your own vehicle . You will end up in kilometres long jams , stucked for the whole day.

This is the centre area, popularly known as the Mall Road. Moving straight in this direction for a few kilometres, we came across the first landmark of this place- The Christ Church.

Then there was Lal Tibba, the highest point in Musoorie, which is accesible by a cable car. This place has lots of shops offering games like archery and dropping the rings on items ( dunno the name of this game ), and also have a telescope. It is said that on clear weather days, one can see the himalayas and China Border with the help of the telescope.

Trying my hands on archery, inspired by Bahubali :P

Then after we were done with this dose of beauty, we moved further exploring the markets and living in the moment, walking across narrow roads, full of people, amidst little drizzle , stopping at places to have tea, have a glimpse at the soul soothing beauty that this place beholds.

Finally, after making a hell lot of memories, it was time to return. The beauty of the place will be always a source of inspiration and calmness for wandelusts. Nature is the best way one can relax his mind and his soul. Thanks almighty for providing me an oppurtunity to witness this paradise.

Always heard of people saying " I am on cloud 9 ". This pic literally proved it. You are actually on cloud 9 when you see clouds beneath you !!!!!

A tale of Paithan

                                       A tale of Paithan

This story is written as an entry in the Write India contest by Times of India, under the Genre Historical Fiction based on the history available about the 17th century paithan city. The story is developed from the preface given by Amish Tripathi- author of the Shiva Trilogy.

Close to the city of Paithan, in a small village called Sauviragram, which lay along the banks of the great river Godavari, lived a woman named Ilaa. Being cotton farmers, her family was well to do, but not among the richest in their area. It was the harvest season, and cotton had to be picked from the plants. The wholesalers and traders from Paithan would be arriving in just a few weeks, carrying gold and goods for barter. They would exchange what they carried for the cotton that the farmers grew. The bales of cotton had to be ready in time! Work was at its peak! But Ilaa was not to be found in the fields. She wasn’t working. Instead, she was sitting by the banks of the great river Godavari.
‘I am sick of this!’ she grunted loudly.

                              Women empowerment

A cause for growing number of divorce

Women empowerment is a subject which is in prime focus in the contemporary world. Be it social or political scenario, it is greatly emphasized upon. If we go by the literal meaning of it then we can say that Women empowerment is a social responsibility that the governments all over the world have, to work towards making women who are discriminated and treated inferior to men, to be treated equally by providing them jobs , training them in different fields of work , making them skilled human resource and giving them equal power in voicing their opinions for/against the functioning/policies of the state, which will all eventually make them self-sufficient and independent individuals so that they need not live as second class citizens  and slaves to men and victims to patriarchal guidelines.

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN

It’s a natural human tendency to perceptionalize a thing according to his comfort. We see a thing, analyze it and make a view about it that pleases us. Whenever we come across that thing in future, we view it again the same way. If there is even a minimum chance of our views being wrong, we console ourselves that it can’t be. But as every coin has two face, so everything and situation have too. But we tend to ignore the ideas that contradict our views.

Responsibilities of Youth for Better India

Responsibilities of youth for better India

India is a vast country with the second largest population in the world. Though our civilization is thousands of years old, yet India is considered as a young nation. The population of India is about 125 crores, out of which about 50% belongs to the age group of 15-35 years. This part of the population is termed as youth. Rest 50% of the population are children and old people, who in general, cannot contribute much for nation building. As such, the whole responsibility of the development and betterment of India rests on the shoulders of the youth of the nation. It is the youth of India who will decide the fate of the country and make a place for India in the list of topmost countries of the world.
